Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Programme – Free

About the course

AED is part of the guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in the UK and Europe and a vital part of improving the chance of survival in cases of cardiac arrest, in some cases up to 75%.


Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years of age at the time of taking the assessment. No prior knowledge is required.

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • Assessing an incident
  • Manging an unresponsive casualty
  • CPR including AED
  • Pocket mask
  • Recovery position
  • Safety consideration with an AED


Automated External Defibrillator is Trainer Assessed throughout the course and the assessment should determine a candidate’s ability to act safely, promptly, and effectively to deal with a casualty suffering a cardiac arrest.


All candidates will receive a first aid manual regardless of what course they participating in.

  • Minimum numbers per course = 8
  • Maximum numbers per course = 24


Courses can be run at City of Glasgow College or we can travel to those requiring/enquiring a course.

Courses can be conducted on weekends, evenings or during school holidays.
